Jersey City artist Terry Lively today announced the launch of her new website.
May 4, 2023 – For Immediate Release
The site, terrylivelyamericanartist.com, reflects the award-winning filmmaker, writer and artist’s desire to concentrate on oil paintings that “blend realism, fantasy and current topics” including climate change to provide viewers “a broader appreciation of current reality.”
This theme was recently on view in such exhibitions as the Calabar Gallery’s “Artists Breaking Boundaries,” where she showed Self Portrait During the Pandemic, Jersey City Pro Arts’ “Equinox,” where she showed Light Chases the Galloping Dark and the Outlander Gallery’s “Roaring Twenties,” where she showed Pot Shot Series #1 and #3.
A native of West Virginia, Lively served as president of both its Filmmakers Guild and Allied Artists and was a member of both its Writers Guild and Watercolor Society before joining Pro Arts Jersey City in 2018. She holds a B.A. in graphic/fine arts and an M.A. in media studies in addition to private studies in watercolors and oil portraiture with well-known artists. Her work, which includes a nationally viewed documentary film, has been placed in both the West Virginia Archives and the National Library of Congress.
After 50 years of creative work in a style influenced by Edward Hopper, Edvard Munch and Vincent van Gogh, with “brush strokes and dense colors that offer bright surprising images,” she says, “I still get inspired by small, intimate scenes of everyday life and some social issue statements, then paint images that will be appreciated today and understood in the future.”
